01. Who am I? I have lived in Hamilton most of my life and started out as an electronics engineer, got a few degrees etc but my heart is in photography and making things. Don't tell anyone, but doing a good job is more important to me than money.
02. What's something unexpected about being a photographer? I was surprised by how long it took to find my own voice and style. There are so many influences and its hard at first to not just imitate others, especially if they seem to be having success. But you get there, and I can tell the difference between something I "think" vs something I "know".
03. What's a bad habit you have? Coffee... oh and people pleasing, it's so hard to stop that.
04. What are your goals for this business? Generally, I keep my goals to myself, but if you are reading this, then I will share one. Long term I would like to own a natural light studio space that feels peaceful and puts me into a creative headspace.
My approach
I photograph families in Hamilton the way they actually are with each other, not lined up and told to smile. I'll give you something to do and someone to focus on, then get out of the way and catch what happens. The photos that come back are the ones that feel like your family, because they are.
