Why book a FAMILY session

Most people don't book family photos because they want "nice pictures." They book because the kids are growing up faster than they can hold on to, and the years blur together in a camera roll.

A family session is a way to slow one of them down. Not posed and stiff, just your people being themselves, so you've got proof of exactly who they were this year.

“Friendly, good banter and best of all no pressure. Tony lets you do you”

WHAT THE SESSION FEELS LIKE

Three ways to do it

You don’t need to know how to pose. I’ll guide you with simple directions that look natural and elegant, small movements, good light, and angles that flatter.

The style is fine art: clean backgrounds, intentional lighting, and images that don’t date in five years.

If you’re feeling nervous about how you look right now, you’re normal. Most clients feel that way at first. My job is to help you feel comfortable and create portraits you’re proud to hang.

If you need a longer guide, then I have a preparation blog post here

Your photos should exist in real life

If you've ever paid for photos and never printed them, you know how that ends.

So the album session is built around a printed book. It's the finished thing, on your shelf, not a folder you mean to get to. Digital files come with it.

The short session is digital only, the fast way in.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Book. Pick a date, get a simple prep guide, clothing, timing, what to expect.
  2. Shoot day. Relaxed and moving. You're guided the whole time.
  3. Gallery in one week. Delivered digitally. On the album session, the album layout comes with it.
  4. Album ordered once you've approved the layout. (album session only)
  5. Ready in 2–3 weeks. Finished pieces arrive ready to hang or gift.

ALBUM SESSION - $580

The one most families book

A full hour or more outdoors, enough time for everyone to stop thinking about the camera and start enjoying it. The first 15 minutes are for warming up. The rest is where the real photos happen, the in-between moments, the smaller groupings, and the shots that become favourites. Then the whole session becomes a book, a finished thing on your shelf.

EASY SESSION - $350

Thirty minutes, paid upfront, and you're done. Short enough that nobody has time to get self-conscious, long enough to come away with real photos of your family being themselves. Turn up, we go for a wander, I catch your family being themselves.

“Tony is absolutely amazing and has never disappointed us. He spent so much time capturing beautiful photos of our family and was incredibly patient — especially with our toddler! He has great creative ideas and always knows the most beautiful locations for photos. We always trust him to capture the best moments of our lives, and he does it at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!”

FAQ

What if my kids don’t behave?

Totally normal. The session is designed around movement and prompts, we don’t rely on perfect stillness. Also, I have kids... I get it and am very very patient

Do you shoot in the studio?

I have a small studio, but most family sessions work better outdoors — especially as the number of people increases.

What should we wear?

You’ll get a guide. Short version: coordinated, not matching; avoid big logos; soft neutral tones photograph best.

Where do we shoot?

Outdoors around Hamilton. I’ll recommend spots based on the light, season, and how your kids are likely to move.

When do we get the photos?

Digital gallery in 1 week. Printed artwork in 2–3 weeks after you finalise your album layout choice.
