First time in the medieval garden. April came so I could learn the light.


It's easier with a real person. Stone and cloisters do strange things to light, and you only see it once someone's standing in it.


It wanted a darker edit than I usually give anything. Softer, closer to how it actually felt in there. Helios 58, every frame, an old Russian lens that suits old places.


April has a classic look, and a way of moving that belongs somewhere like this. She walked the cloisters barefoot, dipped her hand in the fountain, danced a little in the long corridor.


The one I keep coming back to, she's standing in the cloister looking out at the garden. I asked her to daydream. She stood very still and went somewhere else.
